In a world where perfection is a performance and “I’m fine” is a default response, Where Dandelions Grow is a refreshing guide for the
emotionally exhausted, the quietly courageous, and the beautifully burnt-out.
Grit. Determination. Resilience. This is more than just a book… it’s one that makes you pause, reflect and think differently. In the most gentle way.
Gilly has a remarkable way with words. Her storytelling is honest, relatable and full of lessons that stay with you long after you’ve turned the final page. It gently challenges your perspective, encourages you to find the positive and reminds you of what’s possible, even when life feels difficult.
It’s the perfect gift for someone you care about, but equally, one to buy for yourself.
A book to read, reflect on and keep close by. Highly recommended.
This isn't a tidy, 30-day fix, but a lifeline for those navigating the messiness of real life, from the mundane chaos of a full washing machine to the profound weight of grief. Born from lived experience; burnout, trauma, and unimaginable loss, rather than theory, author Gilly Mulford reframes self-preservation not as a luxury, but as a non-negotiable act of courage. She takes readers on a transformative journey through twelve key principles, offering a powerful toolkit of “seeds” to plant in their own lives. These aren't abstract theories, but grounded, battle-tested strategies that were forged in the middle of chaos, in real-time and under pressure.
Readers will learn to:
-
Reframe anxiety and stress by identifying the "Adrenaline Paradox" and rewiring their mental search engine.
-
Tame the inner critic by giving it a name and challenging its authority.
-
Unearth their inherent self-worth by letting go of perfectionism and embracing the "good enough" revolution.
-
Embrace acceptance as a fierce act of empowerment, not resignation.
-
Cultivate courage and resilience through the profound power of discussion and healthy boundaries.
Using the dandelion as a powerful symbol of perseverance, Gill shows readers how to root deeply, bend without breaking, and thrive in life's cracks. She grants permission to fall apart, but also provides the unwavering truth that the power to get back up, and find magic in the messy, ordinary moments, resides within each of us. This is a story of profound vulnerability, resilience, and the quiet, revolutionary act of choosing your own narrative.
Where Dandelions Grow is an essential blend of emotional resilience and practical self-care, a balm for anyone seeking solid ground amidst life's storms.
This book is such a good read.
I am so glad it was recommended to me.
It’s written from the heart so it’s much easier to follow rather than some of the specialist books out there which I get put off by.
It’s a guide to support some of life’s ups and downs offering a different perspective…
It’s a must have , a resourceful ‘go to’ which I will read and re read.
After reading your manuscript I have to say this is the best manuscript I've seen all year. This is a testament to your compassionate and comforting tone of voice throughout, the enlightening activities, and the fantastic analogies used to get your points across
I’m two chapters in and can’t put it down! Amazing job Gilly Mulford you are an inspiration
I started reading your book last night and it is amazing. It is just as if I’m sat chatting to you and I can’t wait to finish it
5 chapters already read however, I could not put it down, inspiringly honest and eye opening relatable… I cannot wait to read more but ultimately, I cannot wait to see which bits I use most
Amazing book, each chapter makes you really stop and think about how your mind processes everyday life, be it good or bad Gill has given such good easy understandable techniques for understanding why your mind works like it does and tips to change our reactions to situations, making situations, coping and life better. Excellent
Gilly has done an incredibly brave and wonderful thing. She has written a book inspired by her own lived experiences, to help others through the other side of the difficulties of life.
I love this book!
We're all (aren't we?) really good at picking up a self-help book and thinking it's going to fix everything. And you start it with hope and then carry on with hope and by the time you are 3/4 of the way in you realise that you haven't the energy to do the things you need to do to get any of this implemented. And it's all too hard. So the book gets slid back on the shelf.
This book is SO practical. And gentle. And a real-life way of working with your brain to feel better every day - whilst acknowledging that we're all dealing with the stuff that life throws at us and doing the best we can.
You can dip in and out to bits that resonate if reading it all is too much, but I absolutely recommend reading the introduction because it's brilliant.
An absolute must read if you want to get your brain working with you not against you.
