Today would have been Ollie’s birthday.

There are dates that don’t need reminders; they live in the body, in the breath, in the quiet moments between one heartbeat and the next. They arrive softly, carrying both the ache of what’s missing and the warmth of what was loved.

Grief doesn’t knock.

It drifts in like weather; a shift in the air, a familiar wind, a memory brushing past your shoulder.

Not to break you, but to remind you of the shape love once took.

And love, once planted, never stops growing.

It grows in the cracks.

It grows in the silences.

It grows in the way you carry yourself through the world, shaped by someone who is no longer here and yet somehow always is.

When someone you love is no longer here, the world doesn’t go back to how it was, but it does keep growing around the space they leave, and somehow, you grow too.

There are moments, unexpected and unplanned, when you feel them close.

In a song you weren’t expecting.

In a kindness you didn’t see coming.

In the way your breath catches for reasons you can’t explain.

These moments are not ghosts.

They are roots.

Evidence of a love that learned how to stay.

We honour the people we’ve lost in the choices we make.

In the kindness we offer.

In the courage we find.

In the moments we decide to keep going, even when it would be easier not to.

If this week holds someone for you as well, may you feel the quiet companionship of shared remembrance.

May you know that your grief is not a burden but a testament.

May you trust that love does not disappear, it transforms.

And may you find one small moment today that feels like gentleness.

Until Next Time

May the love you carry today be the light that softens tomorrow.
