Have you Forgotten How to Play?

There’s a moment, small, almost shy, when you realise you’ve been living on autopilot.

Maybe you’ve had one of those recently.

The kind where the days feel efficient but strangely hollow, where you move through tasks like a well‑trained machine… yet something inside you whispers that you’re missing something essential.

Joy.

Not the big, cinematic kind. The quiet, mischievous kind that sneaks in when you let yourself soften. The kind that comes from play.

Somewhere along the way, many of us traded play for productivity. Curiosity for caution. Wonder for ‘being sensible’. Without noticing, we stopped doing the things that make our hearts lift, not because they were productive, but because they reminded us we’re human. alive.

But here’s the truth you may need reminding of:

Joy is not frivolous.

Joy is fuel.

And play is how your nervous system remembers it’s safe to breathe again.

So today, chose one small thing:

  • pause

  • listen

  • ask yourself gently: “What brings me joy?”

It doesn’t fix everything but it cracks the door open just enough to let a little light back in; the kind that reminds you you’re still human, still capable of delight, still allowed to wander off the path and follow something that makes you smile for no reason at all.

Maybe it’s time to ask yourself the same question.

Maybe it’s time to play again.

Joy returns the moment you remember you’re allowed to play.

Ask yourself: What tiny act of joy can I choose today?

Then choose it, even if it feels silly, small, or wildly impractical.

This is how you reconnect with the part of you that hasn’t forgotten how to feel.

Your life is not shaped only by the serious choices.

It’s shaped by the joyful ones too.

An inspirational quote about wobbling and continuing, set against an abstract backdrop.

Until Next Time

May the smallest spark of joy you choose today become a seed of strength you can return to.

A path through a lush green field, symbolizing a journey or growth.
